A remedial school is a class for people who didn’t do well
in their SHS exams previously. It is also for anyone who wants to write their
SHS quickly, pass and go to the university. When you are old, you can’t say you
are going back to class room and stay there for 3 or 4 years; you can do it in
one year.

There are schools that have some of these classes. Formerly,
schools didn’t do these classes but because they see they can benefit from the
income, they joined in. Now there are
several remedial schools in Ghana and they go by several names like pre –university,
college and so on.

Don’t look at the building.
I must be honest that a
beautiful building is good but they often use that to charge too much fees.
They are often for children from rich homes. It’s because of this that I
started Top-Notch RS. I saw that there were lots of people who just registered
for the WASSCE and never attended classes. The fees were too much for them.
They attended class about 3 or 2 months
to exams so that they could pay something small; it didn’t help them. The
classes am doing is for the rejected ones, I will teach them and they would
pass. You can see from the fee structure which makes it easy for everybody to
attend classes. You can choose to pay your fees daily, weekly, monthly and so
on. Follow this link to view the great offers I have for you.

Look for relevance; make sure the classes fit you like your
dress.
A lot of people would have to write their remedial again
because they didn’t do well which was a result of their lack of fit for the
classes they attended. If you pay fees to attend classes and it doesn’t suit
your time, you miss classes a lot. Some schools don’t care that you can attend
classes only on Saturdays and they just take the money. Or, you’ve been out of
school for a long time so they have to make special arrangements for you but
they don’t. Such classes don’t fit you at all. You’d attend the class alright
but I doubt you get the result you want. I ask remedial schools, why don’t they
have Saturdays only where you teach from morning till evening for those who can
attend class for only Saturdays or Sundays?
So next time when you choose a remedial school look for the
relevance else you’d end up wasting your money.

Don’t look for too much hype.
Some people think that if a school is on the radio or Tv
then, they are the best. There are schools with track records who never go on
radio because they it’s too expensive. Do a background research and you’d
realize that there are so many schools around. Find one and attend, at least
their fees are better. Those who are on TV every day would drain your pocket
because it is your money that they would use to pay for those advertisements.
However, there are some who do adverts who are also very good. But my advice is
that do your backgrounds check, if it is good for you why not.

Fat and lazy;
This reminds me of a young lady who came to me some time ago
for classes. She said ‘ I thought your school is a real school, I cannot come’.
She wanted us to own the whole facility and have a our name written boldly and at
the entrance. She left. But at the same time a young lady came to me, paid her
fees, and she was working and couldn’t have time to come to the school, I went
to her office most of the time to teach her privately and she paid the normal
campus fee. When she wrote the exam recently she was so happy when I spoke to
her on the phone. As for the other girl, am sure of one thing, she’d go to a
school that is fat and lazy (a big class) but I wish her good luck.
Every school starts from somewhere, at topnotch, we are
young class but we teach well and our students pass. Because we are starters we
work harder, we want to make name for ourselves.

Finally, don’t trust the schools too much.
In the final analysis it is your own effort. I asked one
lecturer why some students fail and he said the usual thing ‘I don’t know’. It
means you can’t put all your trust in your teacher, even me. Pretend like your
lecturer cannot help you pass and you’d study hard. That’s the attitude. Studies
like you have nobody to help you. The students that I teach, I tell them ‘if
you have a friend who can also help you, let him top it up for you’. Everybody
I have taught always had a second helper, I encourage that.
